We (2 adults, 2 children) are going to Bansko on 8 Feb for a week and would like to have ski lessons. Is there more than one ski school? If so, which is the best and what is the best way to book. Is it best to book before travelling? I have also been told that the ski school might be for 4 hours per day for 6 days. This seems a lot, especially for the children The children and my husband are all beginners so I assume we will be in different classes. We will also need lift passes, hire of equipment (skis, boots etc) so any advice on how to get these would be welcome. Many thanks.

There is also Salomon Ski school which is on pirin street near the gondola.
There is loads of shops on pirin street doing ski hire or you can just hire it from the gondola station which is also where you will get your lift pass.

Hello, we are going on the 8th as well (from heathrow thank god they%26#39;re not on strike now) . We also have two children and have never been ski-ing before and I need answers to all the questions you have asked, plus how to pay for the ski lessons, lift pass and hire as I%26#39;ve heard you get ripped off if you pay for things by credit cardand that it%26#39;s best to pay by cash - but levs, euros or pounds??
We should try and meet up! Am taking loads of comfort food for kids as have heard food not so great.

We are travelling to Bansko on Friday 9th Feb (2adults and 1 15year old teenager who acts just like Kevin) and like yourself would like to know if it is better to book equipment before we go. Also need to know how much Bulgarian lev to take and whether equipment/lift pass etc. could be paid for with a credit card. Just wondering if anyone provided you with this information.

I am returning to Bansko for the 3rd year running. We are with Neilson and always prebook. They always tell us on the coach that those who did not prebook end up paying a 1/3 more paying in the resort.
We always use Ulen Skischool, they are very good instructors and always speak fairly good english.
We pay £140 for 6 days ski school and that includes the hirte of ski%26#39;s, boots, poles and the lift pass. well worth it.
The Gondola takes 25 minutes and starts at 8.30am, always worth getting there before 9am as it gets rammed.
the ski school starts with an assessment on the 1st day at about 10am and they group on ability, if one of you wants to drop down to be in the same group as others they are very accomodating.
If you are not with a tour operator I recommend you try to contact Ulen to prebook and therefore get a discounted deal.

Has anyone used Spirit Holiday Rentals for ski hire and lessons ?
Seem very reasonable and use the Ulen Ski School in Bansko.

I am going to Bansko too, though in January and also booked with Neilson Holidays as did someone else who has replied to you. We booked a complete package, skis boots lessons (4 hours for 6 days) and lift passes, much cheaper than anything else I found on line after much research.

Actually we are flying into Salonica - SKG in Greece since combining with family holiday and we are struggling to find a rent a car that allows taking the car into Bulgaria. Does anyone know of anything suitable?
