Sunny Beach - Good & Bad

Just returned from our first visit to Sunny Beach on 24th September.

Whats goods?

Beach, weather, abundance of bars %26amp; restaurants. The Hotel L and B. Cheap local bus travel. Shopping as long as you don%26#39;t mind looking at the same things over and over again.

Whats bad?

The street sellers who offer to let you try some fruit then surround you threateningly if you don%26#39;t buy any.

Pickpockets on the local buses %26amp; in the streets.

Hotel Pomorie where some of our friends stayed. Guests rooms were broken into, money was being taken from the safety deposit boxes.

2 for 1 cocktails, would be nice if some of the bars would actually put some alcohol in them.

Illegal taxis!! Painted to look like the legal taxis.

Our friend was beat up and robbed twice, once outside the Lazur night-club, and once when he the car he got in (which he thought was a taxi) took him out to the motorway stopped in lay-by, then a passenger from a vehicle which pulled in behind them jumped into his vehicle, beat him with a cosh, stole his gold neck chain, money and expensive trainers, before dumping him on the motorway. This happened just days before we arrived, so we were on our guard.

There are some areas away from the centre which after dark are best avoided.

Welcome back.

We too had a lovely stay at the L%26amp;B and would recommend it.

Sorry to hear about your friends in the Pomerie. Your news about the bogus taxi is the first I%26#39;ve heard of this year so hopefully it isn%26#39;t or was a common event. Mind you I%26#39;ve heard about this happening in Birmingham before and you can never be too careful.

Thankfully, we have never had a bad experience in Bulgaria and long may it continue.
