Should I go to Sunny beach in September?Advice appreciated!

Hi.

Me and boyf are thinking of going to Sunny beach 7th Sep 2008 for 2 weeks. I was not going too due to all the stories about prostitutes/not being able to leave ur bag on beach whilst going 4 swim/beggers, but I think we should try it.Are they really such a big problem? Can anyone suggest preferably a 4* hotel thats nice and not too far from centre?I have seen Laguna park,Fiesta beach which look ok.

What is the best place to get our levs before we go?Is Bulgaria still 60p a pint etc?

Does anyone know if it will be hot on the dates we r going?

Oh sorry for all the questions but I will be very grateful for all your help and if you need any help on Kos,Marmaris and a few other places I have been I will be happy to advise you xxx

Hi Gemma, I hardly think you and your boyfriend are going to be bothered by prostitutes if you are out as a couple.

Best place to buy lev from before you go is probably either M%26amp;S or the Post Office. Mind you it is a better rate in the resort banks.

The time you are going is usually fine, still mid to high 20%26#39;s, occasional thunderstorm, bit nippy at night sometimes. I always go 1st 2 weeks in Sept and have only had one so, so year and that was last year( still came back with a tan though )

Yes you can still get a pint of beer for 1 lev ( 42p ), however, you need to get away from the beachside bars for this. They will charge 3-4 lev a pint compared to Billies Bistro, Condor, Djanny%26#39;s Fara etc all up beside the market.

Clubs are obviously around the 4 lev mark.

As for hotels, for me the best is the Iberostar Sunny Beach resort Hotel, 4* and next to the beach yet only 2 minutes to the resort centre ( Thomas Cook, Balkan ) The Grand Hotel Oasis is also 4* but you can book B%26amp;B there which is ideal for SB as it is very cheap to eat out and you then won%26#39;t have to worry about poor hotel food. ( Food in Iberostar is very good though )

Others will give their opinion but why not look under hotel review section which list the hotels in order of popularity by forum members.

Hi,

I have been to Sunny beach for 2 years running and are about to go there on the 12th for 2 weeks. The weather out there at this time of year is hot, but can be prone to heavy rain. I did come back with a great tan. I had one incident with a young gypsy during the day, walking about, he was asking for money, didnt get any. My advice is to keep to the main streets, i wouldnt leave my bag on the beach, but really would you leave it anywhere? I wouldnt leave it anywhere in this country. So just take the same safe precautions as you would do anywhere else. I didnt see any prostitutes, im sure there will be as others have seen them, but they are in any town, so again just be aware. You hear stories from tourists who visit other places abroad, good and bad experiences.Im about to have my third visit, and to enjoy. Hope you do too.

We%26#39;ve just booked to go to Sunny Beach from 11th September for 2 weeks and I was starting to worry about bad weather but feel so much better after reading these reviews. Many thanks.

Staying at Helena Sands and looking forward to checking out the Spa and the bars in the resort!

Hi Sarah

Staying at the helena, you have nothing to worry about even if the weather is bad. Its a simply amazing hotel, for my money the best in Sunny Beach. If the weather is bad you can still use the indoor pool, solarium, treatment rooms and have a glass or 3 at either of the lobby bars. Hope you have a fab time

Just returned yesterday and the weather was fabulous. However, it absolutely tipped it down when we were leaving but the locals said that was the bad day and things would pick up again.

Had a fabulous time, never saw a prostitute, mugging and even the bike taxis seem to have learnt their lesson offering reasonable prices.

Condor bar is excellent for drinks, cheap, good measures ( not weak stuff ) and service.
