Just arrived from Sofia, and thought that I could recommend a very good (and cheap) local rent a car, with an office at the airport.
Instead of using the %26quot;international%26quot; companies like Europcar, Avis... I took the %26quot;risk%26quot; and rented in a local one called Dirent. Well...I am delighted for the choice.
I am very satisfied with their service, cars are brand new, they were very helpful at all times including recommending nice restaurants in the country!

Hmm i havent heard of that company, and you have a one post in this forumm. hmm i searched in google and found one company that i used in milan, and its offers a car hire in sofia too,

We flew into Sofia in June and hired a car through www.economycarrentals.com
The car was delivered to our hotel in Sofia the first morning and we returned the car to Sofia airport, 3weeks later.
Excellent service and a good price. I would use them again.

We paid about 800lev for 3weeks. Fuel is much like the price in UK..1.99lev per litre.
