General info on Sozopol please

Hi all,

I%26#39;m looking to go away for 10 days in mid to late September with my girlfriend and Sozopol is somewhere we%26#39;re thinking of going.

We%26#39;re both in our late 20s but aren%26#39;t particularly in to clubbing so we%26#39;re looking for a fairly quiet place, with a bit of culture and bars/restaurants nearby. Neither of us are sun worshipers but quite like the odd day on the beach.

Basically, do people think that Sozopol is the right sort of place for us? Also, I%26#39;m looking at the Santa Marina appartments for accommodation so any general feedback on this would also be appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Hi cappycap, firstly the Santa Marina apartments aren%26#39;t in Sozopol, they are about a 10-15 minute cab ride away from the town in an isolated position. As for Sozopol it would suit your needs,it%26#39;s a laid back resort with no touts pushing you for their business etc, unlike most other Bulgarian resorts.I would suggest looking at the Selena Hotel for your accommodation, they had an alternative programme of events as your not into big time lying on the beach!I was also very impressed with the hotel in general.Sozopol has some of the best views from it%26#39;s restaurants i%26#39;ve eaten at if you wander round it%26#39;s old town.Service can be a bit patchy sometimes but the prices far outweigh that,it%26#39;s cheap!

I would second the above poster about the selena hotel. Its in a fantastic location just make sure you get a sea view room..You can wander round the old town at night with plenty of resturants..If you are looking for a bit more then in the new town there is a few night clubs etc and another beach.

I just came back from two weeks in Sozopol. I had a wonderful time, but then again I love swimming in the ocean and it%26#39;s perfect to be a beach bum in Sozopol. The old town is charming, with cobblestone streets, a few cute little shops (check out Kotka i Kotka) and a few great places to eat (don%26#39;t miss %26#39;Coral%26#39; restaurant--book ahead because there aren%26#39;t many tables).

Let me know if you have any other questions!
