Anyone know of a safe, clean motel/hotel on the E79 around Blagoevgrad?? let me know , I%26#39;m driving to Bucharest from Athens, starting 17/9.

Not many motels in Bulgaria as it is so small. The only option( i%26#39;ve never been there) that looks like what you are looking for is motel nice

http://motel-nice.hit.bg/bg/gallery.html - 20 euro/double room 15 km prior to Blagoevgrad near the town of Simitli. Another option - close to E79 in Blagoevgrad http://www.ezeretz.com/location_en.php

The hotels are better option as not many motels are developed to the even base facilities%26amp;service level

(BTW, the one on the link provided by the previous user seems acceptable).

Even if you can%26#39;t book in advance, onto E79 you%26#39;ll see actually many motels, and their number increases along with approaching the Greek border. If you go for this option, at least ask to see the rooms first.

Anyway, it%26#39;s just a rough opinion as I%26#39;m not experienced with motel stay wherever.

As for hotels...

At my last visit in Blagoevgrad (2008) I stayed here

It%26#39;s not quite near the E79 and was a bit tricky to find. The girl from the reception whom we phoned was not very keen in explanations even in Bulgarian so better do homework for mapping driving directions to here. The rooms are clean, and %26quot;in reality%26quot; they look just like in the pics at the web site. Nice place really though rather a place for relaxing/romantic time out rather than a overnight stopover. In the terms of proximity to downtown, the location is OK. There is a hotel restaurant which is nicely designed and the food quality is OK; however (after my 1st%26amp;last dinner there) I%26#39;d rather skip it and go to one of the many dining places downtown which are at short walking proximity. I remember a free wellness area was advertised that time but it turned it is not within the hotel so do not rely on relaxing there during your stay, unless you%26#39;re tempted to walk/drive before%26amp;after the wellness procedures.

In 2007 I stayed in a small hotel near the local R.U.M. (can%26#39;t recall the name right now), much more adequate for a short stay in the terms of prices; there was a little restaurant with small open air area on the ground floor where we had huge dinner at amazing low price.

An overnight stopover alternative to Blagoevgrad is Sandanski where you can also find many good hotels and variety of prices.

I usually stay in Panorama hotel there but about 10 days ago stayed for the 2nd time at Medite. Both are clean and offering enough facilities and acceptable service. Both do not lay onto E79 but it doesn%26#39;t take more than 10 minutes to reach (considering you%26#39;ll be anyway working on maps, you can find both at booking.com and map directly from there).
