A friend has asked me to check that a standard european insurance policy and E111 card are all thats needed for Bulgaria.If any treatment was required while there would the E111 get you free care or is everything done via your insurance cover?

The E111 was done away with some years ago and is of no use now. Has been replaced by the EHIC card.
This is of very limited use in Bulgaria as NHS care is poor and you should always have adequate travel insurance.
