Jim, I have recently bought a property in St.Vlas near the marina and spent some time there last year.
I have 2 children - 9 and 12 and to be honest, there was not a great deal in place last May. The Dinevi resort is quite luxurious with nice pools and facilities but there is no evening entertainment as yet and few restaurants.
If you plan to go this year I would advise staying in sunny beach - there is loads for the children to do, the beach is fantastic and the restaurants are very cheap. You can book on a variety of excursions - the bulgarian night is good but long travelling for children. The jeep safari is good but you are in a car all day.
If you stay self catering be aware that it can be difficult to get fresh produce as the locals tend to grow their own - so eat out it is much easier. We got a 3 course meal and wine and soft drinks for 6 for £28 pounds.
Once the marina is open in St. Vlas you will find it much better for your trip but it is still an emerging area so my advice would be sunny beach.
Enjoy your holiday.

Hi
I prefer Sunny beach, if you go to St Vlas you must get taxi every time. I can recommend some holiday villagies in Sunny beach.

Hi,
Just wondering, 2 years later(!) if anyone could give me an update on Dinevi resort in Vlas. Owners advertising property give the imperssion that everything is up and running now, and maybe it is.
I%26#39;m actually surfing the net for a private villa with pool, or something in an upmarket resort along the Black Sea coast.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mags.

Hi Mags
Sv Vlas has grown so much in the last couple of years. The Dinevi Marina is complete and a beautiful area.
We have just returned home from a 3 week stay in the Watermill Complex (also run by the Dinevi Group) in Vlas. We had a great time. We%26#39;ve been visiting Sunny Beach for about 12years, in June and again in September but now much prefer Sv Vlas.
There is a nice village square with restaurants and a lot of new shops and supermarkets. It is much more relaxed than Sunny Beach and has a nice less crowded beach.
The bus into Sunny Beach is only 1lev and a taxi should be no more than 15 lev.
We%26#39;re going back on 31st August for 12days.
