We have an Easyjet flight landing at Terminal 1 but have booked car hire with Hertz who%26#39;s desk is I understand in Terminal 2. How does one get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2? Can anyone confirm that the Hertz desk is indeed in Terminal 2? I%26#39;ve looked at the Sofia Airport website but couldn%26#39;t find the answers to my questions. Thanks

I haven%26#39;t recently been at T1 but previously there was either Hertz or Avis. After the sliding doors of T1-Arrivals, look left- the car rental offices were just before the stairs leading to the coffee bar.
If they do not exist already or Hertz is not among them, go right and take OK Supertans cab from the queue, or take a bus.
T2 is a short ride (~10 min.) from T1.

However, by checking at your arrivals T1, if it%26#39;s not there, then it%26#39;s at T2. By memory (but didn%26#39;t check especially) H. were available at both Ts
I%26#39;ll fly off T2 next week so if you fly later, I can check for you how the situation is currently.

I note you are from Plovdiv, we were thinking of spending a day or two in your town. Can you suggest a nice hotel with a bit of character we liked the look of the Hebros but it seems very expensive compared to many other hotels.
Are you by any chance an Opera fan as we note there is an outdoor opera festival in the Roman theatre each September and would like to find out more about it. We would also like to know if there is an Opera House in Plovdiv.

As for the Verdi festival, I%26#39;m afraid you got wrong schedule- it usually starts in the middle of June.

I think I know which hotel it is. The location is really perfect but yes, it costs too much compared to the average%26amp;prevailing hotel prices here. I%26#39;ve seen 1 or 2 hostels at much lower prices still located in old-style buildings in the Old Town but not sure if the hostel atmosphere or facilities is what you want.
It seems to me you%26#39;re interested to get accommodation in the Old town. However, there are hotels located in close (walking) proximity to it.
Also, if you%26#39;re not into the hilly-type of walking, it%26#39;s better not to stay in the Old town as it is hilly and the pavement is mostly done by small paving squares.
The Old town is connected to the main pedestrian street of the city (named %26quot;Knyaz Aleksander Battenberg%26quot; or %26quot;Alexandrovska%26quot;), so all hotels near and/or around e.g. Djoumaya Square (where the Philip II monument is) should be a good choise.
I wouldn%26#39;t recommend certain hotel (would be advertising) but would be glad to give you idea about location and some specifics of those I know among those you%26#39;ve selected.
Let me know which hotels you%26#39;ve pointed apart from Hebros and what is the most important for you (location, facilities, etc.)-
I%26#39;ve been searching for hotels in Plovdiv about friends and have feedback for few hotels which could help, and if no one of my friends stayed there, I could at least advise for the location and possible specifics of the surroundings (poss. noise, etc.). I live downtown and anyway pass through these areas almost daily (when I%26#39;m home).

Landed yesterday night at T-2 and especially checked.
You have all car rental companies, Hertz including,at Arrivals hall. All desks are well signed.
Departures and Arrivals halls are within same building and are internally connected, the building structure of non-restricted access areas is quite simple.
At Departures, along the glass walls you have the flight carriers desks.
At Arrivals, along the glass walls you have the desks of car rental and taxi companies.
So, no matter at which entrance of T-2 the bus/cab from T-1 drops you off, you can easily access the Hertz desk with no risk of wasting time/efforts in searching.

There is no connection between terminal 1 and terminal 2.You can walk if you have no laguage.DONT TAKE A TAXI.NEVER TAKE TAXI without askink before the price.

Seems it%26#39;s needed to set the terms, otherwise one could get confused.
There are no different terminals for arrivals and departures. Both T1%26amp;2 have their own departure and arrivals hall.
D.%26amp;A. of T2 are internally connected, as previously stated. D.%26amp;A. of T1 are at 3 minutes walking distance even if one has baggage.
There is connection bus between T1 and T2. It%26#39;s not an airport train- or bus-shuttles running between transfer areas of terminals like in Rome and Paris for example. It%26#39;s just a bus line out of the airport.
I never use it but I have seen others doing it. Not sure how often buses run and if it%26#39;s 24/7 service.
Sorry to disagree with you but walking between T1%26amp;T2 (although possible) is definitely not recommended even if one does not have baggage.
As for the cab, personally I definitely prefer it instead of the bus. There are still scam drivers, I%26#39;m still approached by some after landing; however never went for %26quot;the good offer%26quot; as many foreigners get tempted to.
Asking for the price is definitely not the way to avoid scam. First, most foreigners do not speak Bulgarian, and most cab drivers do not speak English sufficiently or do not speak it at all.
Secondly, even at a perfect communication, the driver might tell you a good price, so what?
Cab shall be taken from the places where authorized companies queue. Prices are posted in both English and Bulgarian at the car glass, along with drivers photo and numeric ID and company phone number for complaints. You might also refer to the dispatcher or to the taxi company desk located in Arrivals hall.
If a cab driver of authorized company demands price different than the one indicated by meter or does not switch the meter, simply refuse to pay such price- invite him to the cab company office desk to solve the issue there and/or refer to an airport clerk/police officer.
Seems you had poor experience and I%26#39;m sorry for it but you should have done something wrong.

I am just back from Plovdiv and can recomend the old town residance. It was lovey, very beautifully furnished to a high spec, but not too pricey. Infact I realy liked Plovdiv and would like to return for a longer stay, the next time (only 2 days this time). However, I would not stay in the Hebros Hotel, as while we were visiting some friends staying there, we realised the staff were very rude and unhelpful. One of the guests had had stuff go missing from there room includding a lot of money, credit cards, clothes and shoes, but rather than help, the staff were saying- your stuff you should have been watching it, no sypmathy or help in anyway. They seemed to want to try and pretend it had not happened, and when the police where called they changed their story about the event several times, to the extent the the police took the manager in for questioning. The guests had only left their belongings in that room while they were still in the hotel, but in that time it had all gone. From what we could see this hotel had the rudest staff I have ever come across.
Please take your custom elsewhere, this hotel should not get customers until it starts to treat people with a little more respect.

We%26#39;ve just returned from Bulgaria and we also flew with Easyjet.
There is 2kms between the Terminals so I wouldnt recommend you walk.
Our hire car was delivered to our hotel in Sofia when we arrived but at the end of our stay, 3weeks later, we returned the car to Terminal 2.The carhire desks are to our left if you enter the Terminal at the main doors in the centre.
I enquired about a taxi (no luggage, as I%26#39;d already dropped my friend off at Terminal 1) and was told it was a fixed price of 10lev!! I declined and then found out that there is a mini bus (white) that does a FREE shuttle service between terminals every 15minutes or so.
Enjoy your stay, we%26#39;re back for 12days on 31st August.
