Smoking

I%26#39;m led to beleive that Smoking is more popular in Bulgaria than here, and allowed in public places.

Do any restaurants etc. make provision for Non-Smoking areas (that are actually effective), and if so which ones.

I%26#39;m afraid to say almost every Bulgarian smokes. I didn%26#39;t go to many restaurants but was definitely allowed in every bar I went to in Sunny Beach.

Smoking is still allowed everywhere in Bulgaria.(apart from the buses) Even most petrol station have tables outside where they serve coffee and smoking is allowed! Most bars and restaurants are in the open air so should not be a great problem.

There is talk that smoking will be banned in public places next year.

It is officially decided by the government to ban smoking in all public places as of June 2010. Now smoking is prohibited in transportation and wherever there is a %26quot;no smoking%26quot; sign.

There are also lobbies in some restaurants for non smokers. In some restaurants the ban is observed elsewhere not.
