Hi
My boyfriend and I are travelling to Nessebar in 2 weeks time, and we are a bit confused about which currency to take. We assumed we should just convert our english pounds into Lev%26#39;s before we leave, but on looking at the Post Office website, it recommends changing into US dollar? is this correct? We then noticed other threads on the forum mentioning that we should change our Lev%26#39;s once in Bulgaria.
Please could someone clarify for us as we are really confused!
thanks! :)

Take clean, unmarked sterling notes and change in Bulgaria. Do not use exchange at the airport, very low rate but use banks or CROWN exchanges. Hotel is also safe, but check the rate. DONT be tempted to change anywhere else or you will most likely be ripped off and NEVER change money if you are approached on the street.
You will get a higher rate in resort than you will get in the UK.
The only other alternative is, if you have a Nationwide Flex account (as regular visitors have) you can cash money at ATMs with no charges whatsoever and a higher rate.

Thanks very much for clearing that up! Can we use Maestro debit cards in the cash machines over there? and are there plenty of cash machines in Nessebar?
We will be staying in the Hotel Menabria in Nessebar, has anyone stayed there before? We can%26#39;t find any reviews about it?
Also- has anyone any recommendations on what we should do/see/where we should eat over there?
We are so looking forward to going, but a bit nervous as we don%26#39;t know anyone who has been before so we don%26#39;t really know what to expect!
Thanks :)

This hotel appears to be between the new and old part of Nessebur. Sorry I dont know the hotel, if I can find any reviews, I will post a link for you.
The new part is a lot cheaper than the more touristy old town and has a wide choice of restaurants. A bus to Sunny Beach is 1lev each. You could also visit Bourgas and Sv Vlas.
You will have no problem using a Maestro debit card at ATMs, but be aware that you will be charged.
