Full review just returned!!!

HI just returned from Sunny Beach 14.8.09 and though that I would contribute to the forum i used so much before I went and give my review.

Travel

We flew with Thompson/first choice on departure and arrival and thankfully had no problem at all with this. Just as word of warning if you do want to sit together then its crucial to book pre booked seats in uk as many people on both the going and returning flights there were members of partys scattered everywhere!!!. Flight was ok we opted out in flight meals but brought snack boxes for £4.00 which consisted of samwhiches and crisps choclate and a drink so good value. In flight entertainment was provided though had to but ear phones to watch it. Transfer was surprisingly easy and comftable and took approxiemtly 30 mins by coach.

Appartment

We stopped at sea dreams apartments and they were lovelly had a good sized pool. friendly staff and bar and resturant that did good food. The food was basic and not as cheap as other places however it was convienent and nice and would recommednd.. Our rep was called Nikki and she was brilliant. It was nice to have a rep that was there when she said she was going to be.. Hotel didnt have alot in the way of entertainment though did have a good old fashioned quiz night and karaoke on a Tuesday which was always good for a laugh. Sea dreams is a part of the Dreamville devolpment and there is 3 hotels up to now in the chain.. Sunny dreams, sea dreams and Golden dreams. You are able to use all facilites in all three hotels and there all very close to each other. Golden dreams however did not have a resturant but the pool is nice as is the bar. LOL

Beach

You have to pay if you wish to use sun loungers and parasols on the beach and this can work out quite expensive for a large family. 9lev per item. However we found a spot oppisite the Chakia hotel next to the pirate ship where you could put your towels down and it was free and a short walk to the sea. Use here if you dont mind lying on sand its the closest free point on the beach where the sea is not miles away.

Sunny Beach

To get to Sunny beach from these appartments is approx 10 mins walk. From reading the reviews before going I must say we were apprehensive and concerned about it turning into an 18-30s hell hole however we never really encountered any problems. Sunny Beach is more expensive now than it used to be however it is still relatively cheap comapred to the rest of Europe..We spent most of our time on Flower street where you could get a Big beer for approx 0.89 stonkis (40P) service was always good and with a smile.. There is a mc donalds, kfc, and subway in Sunny Beach now so if anyone is missing English food there is always them options.. Along the beach front there is many fast food kiosks that sell Jacket potatoes (massive) for 5 lev and pancakes for 3 levs these must be tried there gorgeous. Clothing stalls are everywhere and provide some good quality copys of designer clothing. My daughter brought an Ed Hardy cap for 15 lev and a jacket for 30 lev. My friend brought plenty of disel tops ranging from 10 lev to 18 lev. He also brought 2 beautiful leather designer belts for 10 lev each. Sun tan lotion is quite expensive other there so would defiently buy all you need in England.

Resturants.

We ate out quite alot but here is a quick summary of some of the best and worst.

Condor... We hated it here, our waiter was execeptionally rude and the food was all cold, food took long time to come out and we were charged for things that were not on the bill.

Far a ..Fantastic place and food great. Waiting staff could not do enougth to help you and food was gorgeous and cheap. We returned there 3 times during our holiday. There was 7 of us that went and fir three courses and drinks never came to more than 160 lev for us all. Highly recommend.

Mamacitas,

Mexican resturant in centre of sunny beach quite expensive 4 lev for plate of chips. However food was eatable and staff was nice.

Cigarettes.

We smoked Assos filter whilst over there also victory Blue. Both very similar to lambert and butler at home. Ranged from 2.90 lev to 3.20 lev. golden Virgina 10 lev a pouch but do not ever buy from anywhere than a shop

Overall still a great place to go on holiday and we had experienced no problems re prostitutes, crime etc. Im not saying that it dosent happend but just be carefull re walking on own at night etc.. Common sense really...

Any other questions please feel free to ask..

Enjoy your holidays Tara

Tara, A superb report. 9 lev for a lounger though looks very expensive and I fancy a rip off here,

prior to your report heard they were charged 7 lev per item ( still expensive in my eye ).

Hi taraukuk, Was just wondering where flower street was. thanks for your time Jim.

|||

Flower Street is the road leading from the beach up to the main road and market area. You cant miss it, its the centre of the resort and the Hotel Kuban, a tall building is halfway along.

|||

thanks very much for your quick reply,i.remember now..its been a few years since i last visited..got another if you could help again..Wheres the main bus station,if you want to visit other towns..thanks again jim

|||

When you get to the top end of Flower street,from the beach. Turnleft,along the main road past the Post Office and Condor. At the next junction and traffic lights turn right, bus station is first on the left, just past the Chinese restaurant.
