Have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Alekta hotel Varna. It was excellent, one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had in fact it was so good I re booked last night. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the room was basic but very comfortable and the staff were so so friendly, they could not have been more helpful. It is a shame they only do breakfasts. Yes, it is a long walk to the city centre about an hour through the sea gardens at a steady pace. but it is a lovely walk, saw lots of birds and several black squirrels, very pretty and the views across the bay are glorious. The road to the beach is ok going down but it is a steep walk back, it is not ideal if you have walking difficulties. The food at the Italian resturant at the top of the road is excellent, the supermarket is well stocked but there wasnt a lot more locally. It didnt matter because the taxi service 500 500 was so cheap we went into Varna most nights to eat . Golden sands was nice with a good variety of resturants and shops
Cant wait to go back next year
